The building, opposite the Custom House on what was the Exeter fish quay, has had many uses in the past, having been a customs transit shed, a fish market, and a greengrocers store. Since the Antiques Centre and Café opened, various internal improvements have gradually been made to realise a relaxed, warm and comfortable environment, where customers can enjoy brunch, lunch or afternoon tea, either inside or outside by the river, and browse and buy at their own pace.

Exeter’s Antiques Centre and the Riverside Café have been located in their present home since 1986 and have been trading continuously since.
